MacGregor, Manitoba
MacGregor is a former town in the Canadian province of Manitoba. It is located within the Municipality of North Norfolk, approximately 130 km west of Winnipeg, and 90 km east of Brandon. It is a farming community, with the biggest industry in the area being agriculture. The community is surrounded by farms, and the Trans-Canada Highway is located just north of MacGregor. As of 2006, MacGregor had 397 private dwellings, a land area of 2.12 km2 and a population density of 433 persons per square kilometer. MacGregor's population is estimated to be at approximately 1,100 people currently, but as of 2006, the village had a population of 921. MacGregor's trading area accounts for 3,500 people within the surrounding area.
Notable individuals born or raised in MacGregor include former politician Leslie Harvard Eyres (1892-1983) and NDP cabinet minister Nancy Allan. The community has had one Loran Scholar, Elliot Sims, in 2004.〔(【引用サイトリンク】Elliot Sims Loran Scholar )
